Kites - JCJ van Speijk Kite Meeting January 1, 2013
Speijk meeting number 1. Please see below (july 01) for explanation.
This is the real thing, the one that started it all, the one for the die-hards. None of that sunny, flowery, t-shirt-and-shorts stuff. This is the one about biting winds, and rain, and snow, and dark clouds, and suffering!
And waffles, and drinks that make you go oomph!

Kites - So What Kite meeting september 12
Another tradition (see below for more) is the So What Kite Meeting, every year second weekend of september. It used to be a rather big and organised family fun fest, but it grew too big and we had to abandon the concept.
Nowadays there's only a basic idea left, and the die-hards who come every year despite the lack of toilets (there's a huge and free corn field across the road), drinks and food tents (we burn our own food), and loud music (we have someone for that, he usually sings at home).
And believe it or not, even ten years later we still have some new people joining us for a weekend of very basic camping; meet them below.
Enjoy.
This years edition can hardly be named a Kite Fest, because there were none. Well, there were, but there was absolutely no wind at all. So we enjoyed the unseasonal warm september sun, and the long nights. Very long nights. Yoho and a bottle of rum.
Kites - JCJ van Speijk Kite Meeting july 01
Every year on New Years Day a couple of my kite friends come together to exchange best wishes and fly a kite. It's sort of a tradition, with homemade cakes, and waffles, and hot chocolate. And then, some eight (nine? ten?) years ago, I suggested we do this midyear as well. Another tradition was born.
